Artificial grass maintenance, in four jobs a year

  1. Brush. Against the lean, monthly, to lift the pile.
  2. Rinse. Monthly, or weekly where a dog uses it.
  3. Clear. Leaves and petals off, before they rot into the pile.
  4. Top up. Silica sand every two to three years.

What shortens a lawn's life

  • No infill. The single biggest cause of a flat, creased lawn.
  • Leaf litter left to rot. It becomes a seed bed for weeds on top of the turf.
  • Heat sources. Braai coals and a reflecting window both melt yarn.
  • Sharp furniture feet. Use pads under anything heavy.

Guarantee and what voids it

The 8-year guarantee covers the yarn against UV degradation and fibre loss. It assumes the lawn was installed on a compacted base with infill. A lawn laid on soil with no base is not a warranty case.

Maintenance questions

How do you clean artificial grass?

Rinse it with a hose and brush the pile against its lean. Both take minutes. An enzyme cleaner handles pet areas monthly.

Does artificial grass need topping up with sand?

Yes, roughly every two to three years. Sand works down and blows out, and a lawn short of infill lies flat.

How long does artificial grass last?

Ten to fifteen years is normal in Cape Town conditions. Our guarantee runs 8 years on the yarn.
